“We exist to help people find and follow Jesus” Pastor Abe Pfeifer Vision night September 25th , 2016

That is our purpose – to help people find and follow Jesus.
We filter everything through this lens… If it doesn’t help us fulfill our purpose, then we don’t do it.

Our statement of purpose is based on these two teachings of Jesus:

37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ Matthew 22:37-39

19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matthew 28:19-20

These teachings give us 5 priorities that help us fulfill our purpose. At New Life we know it takes all five of these to grow healthy Christ followers.

WORSHIP – “Love the Lord with all your heart” – our service are designed to facilitate an environment of worship that allows each person to encounter Jesus’ love, whatever their story.

MINISTRY – “Love your neighbor as yourself” – Any time you’re expressing love to someone in Jesus’ name that’s ministry. We are committed to equipping everyone to serve somewhere.

COMMUNITY – “Baptize them” – Baptism says, “you belong to Christ, you’re one of us.” You are a part of the family of God, the body of Christ. Not only do we want you to be baptized – we want you to join a small group. Be in community with others.

MISSION – “Go… and make disciples” – our mission is at the heart of our purpose. We are focused on reaching unreached people and helping them learn how follow Jesus with their lives.

DISCIPLESHIP – “Teach them to do…” Discipleship is about encouraging people to fulfill their God-given destiny.
